About Sonja
Hi there! I’m Sonja, originally from a small town in Upper Austria, near where Austria meets the Czech Republic and Germany. I’ve always felt a special connection to Salzburg ever since my first visit. I fell in love with this town, its fortress, the history and the surrounding nature. I mean – the hills are alive, right? 🙂
One of my favorite things about Salzburg is that it’s a small, very walkable city which offers so much culture and history.
Though I started my career as a social worker, because of my love for traveling I ended up drifting into tourism. It began in 2006 when I worked as a live-in nanny in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Since then, I got to travel around the U.S., Australia, Europe, South and Central America. All of that sparked my interest in the diverse cultures around the world.
That I now get to share my passion on a daily basis, means a great deal to me. My goal as a tourguide has always been to craft engaging, interactive, clear and comprehensive tours in a good balance with historical facts, local and cultural insights.
Outside of guiding, I also love Roller Derby. And although I consider myself a child of the world, the true austrian comes out strong at 3pm – when it’s Kaffee und Kuchen time!
